REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to adopt Resolution No. 2023-25 declaring a local state of emergency in response to impending Tropical Storm Idalia.
DISCUSSION:
Hurricane Idalia recently formed in the western Caribbean and is predicted to make landfall on Florida's west coast as a major hurricane some time early Wednesday morning. On August 26, 2023 Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order 23-171 declaring a State of Emergency for 33 counties including Pasco County therefore staff is requesting that City Council declare a local state of emergency would become effective as of 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council to adopt Resolution No. 2023-25 declaring a local state of emergency in response to impending Tropical Storm Idalia as submitted.
