REQUEST:
The request before City Council is to allow a "wet-zone" area in Railroad Square for the duration of the Friends of the Library Cornhole Tournament to be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
DISCUSSION:
The Special Event Team reviewed the application for the Friends of the Library Cornhole Tournament at their regular meeting on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. The Special Event Permit was approved on August 16, 2023.
The event will be held in downtown New Port Richey at Railroad Square, as identified in the site map located in the application packet. The Friends of the New Port Richey Library Organization does not plan to sell any alcoholic beverages and only requests to create a "wet-zone" between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. so that attendees can purchase and consume beer or wine from a local business while participating in this fundraising event.
RECOMMENDATION: The recommendation before City Council is to approve the request to extend the "wet-zone" for the Friends of the Library Fundraising Cornhole Event on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
