The police department has requested funds in the F.Y. 2023/2024 budget for a full Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management System (CAD/RMS) integration project with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Dade City Police Department, Port Richey Police Department, and Zephyhills Police Department. Our police departments CAD/RMS system is essential technology that provides an integrated platform for managing emergency calls, dispatching resources, maintaining accurate records of police activities, generating police reports, facilitating information sharing among the partnering agencies, and enhancing operational efficiencies overall. The new CAD/RMS system will be more advanced than our current system, will provide essential information sharing among the participating agencies, and will significantly improve our operational capabilities.
The vendor for the RMS portion of our CAD/RMS integration project (Axon Enterprises, Inc) submitted a quote to us for a five-year contract with annual payments of $31,360.00 from 2024 to 2028 for a total of $156,800.00 over five years. To secure this pricing for our agency, we must sign this contract prior to September 30, 2023. If we do not sign this contract before September 30, 2023, then the annual contract amount will be $55,267.20 from 2024 to 2028 for a total of $276,336.00 over five years.
This contract is being presented to the City Council prior to next fiscal year to save $119,536.00 dollars over the five-year contract period. As per our City Attorney, the contract does have a clause that allows the City to pull out of the contract if funding is not approved for the RMS system.
