RE:Approval of the 2023-2025 Pasco County Law Enforcement Officer Mutual Aid Agreement - Page 84

REQUEST:

The request for City Council is to allow the police department to enter into the 2023 through 2025 Pasco County Law Enforcement Officer Mutual Aid Agreement between all the named Cities and the Pasco County Sheriff.

DISCUSSION
:

The current Pasco County Law Enforcement Officer Mutual Aid Agreement is set to expire in October of 2023. The Florida Mutual Aid Act authorizes law enforcement agencies to enter into mutual aid agreements for operational and other types of assistance. Law enforcement mutual aid agreements have been in existence in Pasco County since 1994 and must be renewed every three years. This mutual aid agreement is essential for the police department and allows participating agencies to assist each other operationally across jurisdictional lines with law violations, natural disasters, man-made disasters, boating violations, arrests, traffic hazardous, special events, etc. This mutual aid agreement enhances the police departments operational abilities and delivery of service to our community.

City Attorney Tim Driscoll reviewed this mutual aid agreement and approved the agreement as to form.
