| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Robert M Rivera – Public Works Director | | DATE: | 11/7/2023 | | RE: | Water Treatment Plant – Ground Storage Reservoirs 1 & 2 – Maintenance Repairs |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for the City Council consideration is to review and consider for approval, the attached proposal submitted by Razorback LLC. of Tarpon Springs, Florida in the amount not to exceed $142,917 for the sandblasting, cleaning, and painting of the City’s Water Treatment Plant Ground Storage Reservoirs. Pricing, terms, and conditions are in accordance with the City of West Palm Beach, Florida for Water Storage Tank Cleaning and Repair Painting Maintenance Contract 23423.004.
DISCUSSION:
On May 23, 2021, an inspection of the Water Treatment Plant’s two (2) Ground Storage Reservoirs was performed by Liquid Engineering Corporation. Subsequent to the completion of the report, several items were identified that were in need of maintenance activities such as, concrete cracking, minor corrosion around drains, baffle wall corrosion, the interior cleaning of Reservoir one (1), and the staining and cracking of exterior walls and roof areas on both reservoirs. The attached “piggyback” proposal satisfies the recommendations of the inspection reports.
Staff has worked with Razorback on several previously completed projects at both treatment plants. Razorback is local and has always been responsive to the needs of the City during the projects.
RECOMMENDATION:
The action recommended by staff to City Council is to approve the proposal and piggyback.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Project funding is included in the WTP’s budget account No. 401105-46341. It should be noted that the attached proposal of $142,917 is $32,083 less than the budgeted amount of $175,000 allocated for the project.
