| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Robert M Rivera – Public Works Director | | DATE: | 11/21/2023 | | RE: | Fire Station No. 2 Construction Project – Change Order No.1/Budget Amendment |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached Change Order No.1 in the amount not to exceed $129,131.00. In addition, staff would request that City Council review and approve the attached budget amendment in the amount not to exceed $129,131.00.
DISCUSSION:
As City Council is aware, the construction phase of the City’s new fire station located on a 1.19-acre parcel at Grand Boulevard north of Marine Parkway and south of High St began in June of this year. The construction project involves site preparation and the construction of a 7,876 SF single-story fire station. The station includes two (2) drive-thru bays, office space, a day room, training and exercise rooms, a bunker gear storage room, a commercial-grade kitchen, dorm style bedrooms to accommodate up to six (6) personnel, an OSHA certified decontamination room, and an outdoor private patio.
Prior to the construction phase, a subsurface analysis of the site was performed by Central Florida Testing Laboratories as a sub-consultant of Spring Engineering, Inc. Subsequent to the testing, an estimated 200 to 300 cubic yards of grout was estimated to stabilize the subsurface. During the grouting process, a total of 545 cubic yards of grout was injected or 274 additional lineal feet was exceeded above the 660 lineal feet estimated. As a result, $129,131.00 is the exceedance above the $70,000.00 allotted in the contract for this line item resulting in the change order.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of Change Order No.1, and budget amendment are recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is identified as Penny for Pasco Tax Dollars and is being transferred from the Fire Station No.1 Building Hardening Project.
