As the CRA Board is aware, Stantec has been actively engaged on the Plan Update since summer 2022 pursuant to a scope of services which included the following items.

• Document Review & Assessment
• Public Involvement
• Evaluate CRA District Boundary Map
• Vision and Goals, Objectives, and Policies
• Five Year Capital and Operating Budget, and Funding Sources
• Grant Programs
• Economic Development Incentives
• Redevelopment Plan

At the Board’s meetings of March 19 and March 28, 2024, Stantec, Staff, and the Board discussed the work to date, which includes:  studying relevant past planning efforts, especially the previous versions of the Community Redevelopment Plan; incorporating community input; recognizing the many accomplishments to date; and drafting the preliminary statement of Vision, Goals, Objectives, and Specific Strategic Priorities.

At the Board’s meeting of March 28, 2024, the Board expressed a preference for the following Vision Statement:

The best walkable, waterfront, historic hometown in Florida.

Additionally, members of the Board and public shared several ideas to improve the draft Goals, Objectives, and Specific Strategic Priorities, and requested an updated project timeline. 

In response, please find the attached Project Timeline for your review and consideration and know that:

• Our team is now working on drafting the fuller Plan Update in accordance with the Project Timeline.
• The draft Plan Update document will be continuously improved until its adoption, which is currently anticipated this fall after several more CRA Board and other public reviews.
• Our team intends to provide you with progress reports at each standalone CRA meeting through project completion.
• The next important milestone is a Community Workshop, which will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, beginning at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.  All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
