REQUEST:
The request is to approve establishing a wet zone on Nebraska Avenue between Grand Boulevard and Adams Street on December 31, 2024, beginning at 5:00 p.m. and spanning through 2:00 a.m.
DISCUSSION:
This year an event is being planned to occur on Railroad Square to celebrate the New Years Eve holiday. The title of the event is the New Year's Eve Ball Drop and principally involves just that, as it is planned that a mobile crane will be in Railroad Square, and a ball will be dropped from the crane at midnight. The organizers of the event presented their plan to the Special Events Team earlier this week and as I am told they expressed interest in holding the event on an annual basis.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation is to approve the request to establish a wet zone on Railroad Square on New Year's Eve beginning at 5:00 p.m. and spanning through 2:00 a.m.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no direct financial impact to the city associated with this event. | | | |
