REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to approve Change Order No. 3 and Pay Application No. 9 in respect to the Sims Park Improvement Project.
DISCUSSION:
The purpose of this agenda item is to close out the Sims Park Improvement Project. The original construction budget for the project was in the amount of $3,018,599.00. During the implementation of the project two deductive change orders were processed. Together, they were in the amount of $385,239.80 which means that the construction budget was reduced to the amount of $2,633,359.20 as a result of the change orders. As I am sure you will recall, the majority of the items accounted for in the change orders were materials (i.e.- play structure, site furnishings etc.) which were purchased directly by the city in order to realize a savings in tax payments.
This change order covers a number of items that came in under the expected bid and additionally a number of field order changes that were made in the course of the construction. All of which are deductive in nature and therefore further reduces the guaranteed maximum price on the contract. That being said, the total of Change Order No. 3 is $69,067.01. As such, the final guaranteed maximum price on the project is $2,564,292.19.
In respect to closing the project an amount of $2,535,724.47 has been paid to date which leaves an amount of $28,567.72 remaining on the contract. Since the project, along with all of the punch list items have been completed to the satisfaction of the city, it is recommended that the final payment on the project be released.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of the the deductive change order in the amount of $69,067.01 and authorization for Pay Application No. 9 in the amount of $28,567.72.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact associated with this item as this is a deductive change order. | | | |
