| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Robert M Rivera, Public Works Director | | DATE: | 8/2/2016 | | RE: | Warren Avenue Drainage Improvement Project |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider the attached proposal in the not to exceed amount of $27,099.54 from Schaer Development of Central Florida, Inc. for the Warren Avenue Drainage Improvement Project. The pricing and contract documents are in accordance with the City's current As-Needed Miscellaneous Pipe Construction ITB#16 - 009.
DISCUSSION:
Subsequent to the street flooding complaints by residents who live on Warren Avenue, Public Works Construction Management made several site visits in an effort to determine the extent of the flooding and to determine corrective action. As Council may recall Warren Ave. was one of the roadways in need of reconstruction due to the summer storms of 2015. The reconstruction process included minor engineering that called out for the contractor to reconstruct the damaged areas back to existing grades to match the existing roadway surface. Once Construction Management identified the low lying area and compared it to the existing stormwater drainage system, it was determined a trench drain installed across the road, tied into a proposed swale, and connecting to the existing system would resolve the repetitive stormwater collection in the road.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the do not exceed proposal is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is made available in the Stormwater Utility Flood Control/Water Quality Projects line item #002-0103-538-63-99.
