REQUEST:
Staff requests Council to authorize the use of forfeiture funds to purchase a riot shield from Galls Police Supply at a cost of $1,107.75.
DISCUSSION:
Each patrol supervisor is issued a riot shield for use by their officers during emergencies. The shields are kept in the respective supervisors’ vehicle. The Detective Corporal frequently fills in when patrol supervisors are absent due to illness, etc.
The requested shield will be assigned to the Detective Corporal.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends Council authorize the purchase of a Level IIIA Ballistic Riot Shield and neck strap at a cost of $1,107.75 from Galls, LLC, -- 1340 Russell Cave Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40505.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Staff requests Council authorize the use forfeiture funds for this purchase which will result in no direct cost to the City. | | | |
