During a work session with City Council on August 1, 2016, the Sports Facility Advisory Group, LLC (SFA), presented their findings and recommendations regarding the completed Pro Forma on the Recreation and Aquatic Center. Included in the document were fee recommendations for memberships, entry to the facility and rentals. Following the work session, the fees were reviewed by staff and then presented to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board at their regular meeting on September 13, 2016.
Recommendations from the SFA included changing the current language for fees to reflect the Fee and a Resident Discount instead of referring to the items as the Resident and Non-Resident Fee. Further recommendations suggested excluding the Senior Monthly rate and all Annual Memberships. A full listing of the current fees and the SFA recommendations is attached.
The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board reviewed the findings from the SFA and recommended the following revisions. The Board agrees with the change in language to denote items sold as the "Fee" and a "Resident Discount". The Daily rates should be rounded to an even dollar amount, the One Month Memberships should include a rate for Seniors as well as groups from two to six people and provide for a Family category. The Advisory Board also recommended offering Annual Memberships. For the Room Rentals, the Advisory Board approved the activity room rental suggested by the SFA and recommended leaving the current gymnasium rental rate of $50 per hour with a 15% discount for residents as recommended from the SFA, resulting in an hourly rate of $42.50.
Although it was outside the scope of services for the SFA Group to make any recommendations on park shelter fees, the Advisory Board recommended adjusting those rates to a Shelter Fee of $50 per day with a Resident Discount of $25 per day. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recommended approval of the attached fee schedule in Exhibit A of this document.
