The request of staff for City Council is to consider for approval waste hauler permit applications for the 2017 calendar year submitted by County Recycling, Inc., J.D. Parker & Sons, Inc., Progressive Waste Solutions, Seaside Sanitation, Waste Management Inc. of Florida, and Peterson's Service Corporation. 

As Council is aware, the City Code requires Council to consider for approval, submitted applications from waste haulers by November 15th for City service to its residents for the following calendar year.  Six waste haulers have submitted applications to the City; all of these vendors are currently operating in the City.  Subsequent to staff's review, it has been determined that all waste haulers have completed and submitted to the City all documentation required in the applications.  Two (2) complaints have been received this year by staff about the existing haulers; collecting waste outside the allowable time frame or days and operating defective equipment used to collect the waste. All existing vendors are currently collecting the 10% franchise fee mandated by the City to operate a waste hauling business within the City's Corporate Limits.  Finally, all of the waste haulers have been sent certified letters notifying them about this public hearing. Included in the letter was a request by the City that a representative be present at this meeting in order to address any questions or concerns by residents, Council, and staff.
