REQUEST:
The action requested of City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached proposal from Alan Jay Fleet Sales in the amount not to exceed $25,251.00 for the purchase of one F150 standard pickup truck and the City’s Fleet Maintenance proposal for outfitting in the amount not to exceed $1,919.00. The Alan Jay Fleet Sales pricing is in accordance with the National Auto Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) Bid No. 2017-10281. Approval of the contract is in accordance with the City’s Finance Rules and Regulations.
DISCUSSION:
As Council may recall, subsequent to the completion of the Sims Park Improvements Project additional maintenance personnel were requested and approved by City Council. Maintenance tasks and operational hours justified the staff enlargement. As a result of the projects expected completion time of January 2016, it was determined by staff to delay the request for an additional vehicle until the 2016/2017 fiscal year in an attempt to reduce the budget impact on the general fund. Should City Council approval the purchase, maintenance personnel will not have to share maintenance vehicles transporting each other back to the operations center due to several different shift times as well as different maintenance task which call for each crew to have a maintenance vehicle to perform and complete their tasks.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the purchase is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this vehicle is budgeted in the 2016/2017 Capital Equipment/Improvement Plan for the Grounds Maintenance Division account No. 001-0110-539-64-15.
