REQUEST:
The request before City Council is to review and approve the Bid Award for the Frances Avenue Restroom Project.
DISCUSSION:
The City contracted with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for professional services to design, engineer and bid the Frances Avenue Restroom Construction Project. The bid was distributed and six contractors submitted bids by the advertised date. SC Signature Construction was the lowest bidder. The Construction Services Manager from the Public Works Department met with representatives from SC Signature Construction and determined that the bid was submitted correctly and on time with all the required documents and bid bond. Public Works also indicated that they have completed several projects with SC Signature Construction and that those projects were very successful. A copy of the Bid Comparison Sheet is attached.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation before City Council is to approve the Frances Avenue Restroom Construction Project to be completed by SC Signature Construction in the amount of $139,911. This funding amount does include a $20,000 owners allowance for unforeseen contingencies during the construction process.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is available in the Capital Improvement Program in the amount of $228,000. from a Community Development Block Grant.
