As Council is aware, the City owns 12 Buildings with existing HVAC systems. These systems, in most cases are large commercial units ranging in age from one (1) year to more than 15 years old. Specifications for these units call out regular maintenance items and frequencies. It is staffs intent to acquire economy of scale pricing by combining eight (8) of the units into a competitive bid service contract. It is expected that by performing this type of regular maintenance, the frequency of major repairs will be at a lower rate and the systems useful life will reach its maximum expectancy.
On August 18, 2017 three (3) competitive bids were opened for public reading. These bids ranged from a high bid of $154,500 to the low bid submitted by AMSCO of $80,000. Bid documents were reviewed by staff and verified to be correct. Staff verified and made contact with references and the contractor was contacted to discuss contract requirements prior to Council submission for approval as well.
