The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the Deductive Change Order in the amount of forty-eight thousand four hundred eighty-eight dollars and zero cents ($48,488.00) and the Final Pay Request in the amount of ninety-five thousand nine hundred seventy-five dollars and fifty cents $95,975.50 from BUN Construction, Inc. for the completion of the 2015 Water System Improvements Project.     

As City Council may recall, the 2015 Water System Improvements Project included the installation of approximately 7,000' of new eight inch diameter water mains and the installation of 10 fire hydrant assemblies. These water main pipe replacements and upsizing upgrades increased fire flow capacity to the existing and proposed fire hydrant assemblies resulting in improved fire protection to the residential and commercial properties in the areas of construction.  These areas included the Heights neighborhood, the Big Bend neighborhood, US Hwy 19 corridor, North Park neighborhood, and the East Gate Estates neighborhood located north of the Grey Preserve.  In addition, the replacement of 2,600' of existing asbestos cement pipe along Marine Pkwy was replaced to eliminate the probability of damage to the newly constructed multi-use path as the existing pipe had served its useful life and had historically been prone to joint failures.
