RE:2015 Madison Street Streetscape/Multi-Use Path Expansion – ITB17-015 Bid Award

REQUEST:

The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval and award the low bid submitted by Augustine Construction, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $664,424.75 for the proposed 2015 Madison Street Streetscape/Multi-Use Path Expansion Project.

DISCUSSION
:

As Council may recall, this project was approved for design in the City's 2014/2015 Capital Improvement Program. The project scope of work expands the City's existing Downtown streetscape at Main Street and heads north on Madison Street to Massachusetts Avenue.  In addition, the scope of work connects to the existing Multi-Use Path at Kentucky Ave. and Madison St. extending the path south along the east side of Madison Street to Central Avenue.  Elements of the proposed project include the removal and replacement of the existing sidewalk, hardscaping, landscaping, decorative lighting, as well as amenities similar to the City's existing Downtown Streetscape areas and the existing multi-use path on Marine Pkwy.

Staff has worked with Augustine Construction, Inc. on several projects similar to the Madison Street Streetscape/Multi-Use Path Expansion project.  The most recent projects completed by Augustine Construction, Inc. include the Marine Pkwy Multi-Use project and the Circle Blvd. Improvements project.  Both of these projects were completed according to their design specifications and under budget.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of the low bid and approval of project award is recommended.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for this project are identified as Penny for Pasco tax dollars in the City's current Capital Improvement Program.
