| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Lisa L. Fierce, Development Director | | DATE: | 10/17/2017 | | RE: | Resolution #2017-33 - Imposing & Assessing Cost of Abatement and Removal of Unsafe Structure at 5820 Missouri Avenue |
REQUEST: City Council is to conduct a hearing for the purpose of assessing the costs of abatement of the unsafe structure and determine if a lien should be imposed. The matter shall be handled as a quasi-judicial proceeding.
DISCUSSION:
The subject property is 0.17 acres located on the southeast corner of Missouri Avenue and Adams Street, on the edge of downtown. It had contained a single-family dwelling that was damaged by a vehicle. It has been owned by Raleigh Sullivan since February, 1986.
City Council adopted Resolution #2016-21 on September 6, 2016, determining that the structure met the definition of unfit or unsafe structure and authorized abatement and removal of the structure under non-emergency condemnation procedures. It was demolished on October 28, 2016.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the resolution and authorization to impose a lien to recover costs outlined herein.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT: Costs incurred to date include certified mailings, advertising, title searches and demolition totaling $3,688.
