As you already know, an application process was put in place last year relating to not for profit organizations seeking in-kind support from the city in regard to special events. In that respect attached you will find a request matrix along with application data as provided by the applicants. As you can see from the attachments the amount of funding requested exceeds the amount of available funds.
In order to advance a recommendation for your consideration the following factors have been contemplated: the amount of gross revenue generated by the special event, the use of the net profit to achieve appropriate community results, economic impact of special events to the local business community and whether or not the theme of the event supports a family-friendly environment. Lastly the recommendation takes into account the other forms of subsidy that the city provides to the event organizer i.e.- reduced market rent to the Chamber of Commerce and an annual appropriation to support the Main Street Program.
