REQUEST:
The request of staff for the City Council is to review the attached Genesis recommendation memo and to consider approval and award of the lowest bid submitted by D.A.B. Constructors, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $1,314,444.44 for the 2015/2016 Street Improvement Project - ITB No. 18-001 Bid Award
DISCUSSION:
As City Council may recall, the 2015/2016 Street Improvement Project includes the annual repair and maintenance of many city arterial/collector roads, as well as residential road repair and maintenance, based upon the methodology in the Pavement Management Plan developed by the Citizens Advisory Committee, Genesis, and city staff. The streets included in this task order are identified in the cycle one paving group as being in the worst condition in need of resurfacing or street reconstruction. They include Congress Street from Massachusetts Avenue to Louisiana Avenue, Madison St. form Massachusetts Avenue to Cecelia Drive, Orchid Lake Road/Oreto Park area, Tropic Shores and the Le Clair Neighborhood.
Three (3) competitive bids were opened by the City on November 3, 2017. The project bids received ranged from a low bid of $1,314,444.44 to a high bid of $1,993,804.91. The Engineer of Record has reviewed the bid documents required for each submission, contacted references, verified line item dollar amounts, and has submitted a letter of recommendation for bid award.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval and award the low bid submitted by D.A.B. Constructors, Inc. is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is identified in the Street Improvement fund, account #701-0701-541-6334.
