| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Robert M Rivera, Public Works Director | | DATE: | 12/19/2017 | | RE: | 2017/2018 Street Improvement Project Task Order No. 5565-040 - Engineering Services |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval Task Order No. 5565-040 from the Genesis Group for engineering services in the amount not to exceed $174,057.00 for the proposed 2017/2018 Street Improvement Project design, bidding, and construction phases.
DISCUSSION:
As Council is aware, the Genesis Group executed an agreement with the City to perform the 2014 Roadway Needs Assessment. Included in the report was a ranking system that identified roadways by their existing condition and placing them into groups or paving cycles. The streets included in this task order are identified as paving group cycle two and three as being in the worst condition in need of resurfacing or street reconstruction. They include Gulf Drive from US Hwy 19 east to Madison Street, a section of Main Street west of US Hwy 19 S curve to Southtowne Loop, Massachusetts Avenue from Anderson Street to Grand Boulevard, the Heights and the Sims Grant Neighborhoods. In areas where the existing sidewalk is cracked or damaged it will be removed and replaced as part of the project. In flood prone areas the existing asphalt will be milled down so the new asphalt can be installed at the same existing grade and finally, in areas where existing stormwater inlet structures are located concrete flumes shall be constructed in between the roadway and structure as part of a best management practice.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of Task Order No. 5565-040 in an amount not to exceed $174,057.00 is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for this project are identified in the City's current Capital Improvement Program in the Street Improvement Fund (701). | | | |
