RE:2017 Water Interconnect Project Phase I Close Out – Consideration for Approval

REQUEST:

The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached deductive change order in the amount of $2,306.83 and the final pay request in the amount of $41,423.80 from Schaer Development of Central Florida, Inc. for the Potable Water Interconnect Project Phase 1.  The pricing and contract documents are in accordance with the City's current As-Needed Miscellaneous Pipe Construction ITB#16-009.



DISCUSSION
:

The scope of work for this proposed project consisted of demolishing of the existing in-ground vault and interconnect.  The rebuilding of the interconnect above ground, the replacement of the existing standard potable bulk meter with a smart bulk meter, the installation of a pressure sustaining valve, a bypass connection, and a concrete pad with bollards.  This project is the first of several phases to complete upgrades to the City’s interconnections with Port Richey and Pasco County.  These interconnects contain antiquated meter technology as well as valve and bypass systems that have served their useful life and are no longer dependable. 



RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of the deductive change order and final pay request is recommended.



BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for this project is made available in the Water and Sewer Capital Construction Program line item #405-0953-533-63-81.
