REQUEST:
The action requested of City Council is to review and consider the approval of the attached two proposals from Alan Jay Fleet Sales in the total amount not to exceed $73,010 for the purchase of one F250 Utility Service Truck for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and one F150 Utility Service Truck for the Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The Alan Jay Fleet Sales pricing is in accordance with the National Auto Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) Bid No. 2018-120716-NAF. Approval of the contract is in accordance with the City Finance rules and regulations.
DISCUSSION:
These two types of vehicle is used by WWTP and WTP maintenance staff for routine inspections and repairs of bulk meter assemblies, water and influent sampling and transport to labs. In addition these vehicles are used to load and unload equipment and material used in several types of maintenance and repairs activities at the plants. The existing WWTP utility service truck was purchased in 2002 and is 16 years old. The WTP utility service truck was purchased in 1999 and is 19 years old. Subsequent to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisors condition review, a recommendation of replacement has been submitted to the Department Head.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval to purchase the two utility service trucks in accordance with the submitted proposals is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the vehicles is included in the WWTP and WTP’s Capital Equipment/Improvement Plan for the Account No. 401-0112-535-64-15 and No. 401-0105-533-64-15. | | | |
