REQUEST:
The request of staff for Council is to review and approve the As-Needed Misc. Pipeline Construction contract one year extension agreement from Schaer Development of Central Florida, Inc. with the same unit pricing and conditions included in the current contract agreement RFP No. 16-009.
DISCUSSION:
As Council may recall, the City currently has a contract agreement with Shear Development of Central Florida, Inc. for As-Needed Misc. Pipeline Construction. The contract was approved and awarded by Council to Shear during its April 5, 2016 regularly scheduled meeting. The contract included an initial two year term with the option of two, one year renewal options contingent on both parties agreement in writing to the contract extensions. This type of contract has proven to be a success by providing the City with an "economy of scale" savings on small projects throughout the year. Recent competitive bid openings by the City have shown price increases from past project bids that contained similar scope of work. Approval by Council of the contract extension would allow the City to take advantage of pricing that is currently two years old.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff's recommendation to Council is to approve the one year contract extension agreement for RFP No. 16-009 As-Needed Misc. Pipeline Construction contract agreement.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
