REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached deductive change order in the amount of $30,538.50 and the final pay request in the amount of $138,861.50 from Energy Resources, Inc. for the Orange Lake Dredging Project. The final cost to the City for the project completion is $302,661.50.
DISCUSSION:
As City Council may recall, the dredging of Orange Lake was phase 1 of two project phases designed and constructed for the purpose of flood control and water quality improvement. This multiple phased project was included in the City’s 2010 Ten Year Stormwater Utility Master Plan. In addition, elements such as boardwalks, shelters, sidewalks, and landscaping where added as part of the Phase 2 Sims Park Improvements.
On September 19, 2017 City Council approved and awarded the low bid of $333,200 to Energy Resources, Inc. On November 13, 2017 a notice to proceed with the project construction was submitted to the contractor from the City’s Construction Services Division to proceed with the dredging of sediments from the Lake. Subsequent to the conclusion of the dredging 3,579 cubic yards of material was removed from the lake and disposed of properly.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the deductive change order and final pay request is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is identified in the City current Capital Improvement Program. $202,661.50 Penny for Pasco Tax Dollars and $100,000 Restore Act Grant Funding. | | | |
