RE:2015 Downtown Landscape Improvements Project Close Out – Consideration for Approval

REQUEST:

The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached deductive change order in the amount of ($1,106.80) and the final pay request in the amount of $53,209.97 from Morelli Landscaping, Inc. for the 2015 Downtown Landscape Improvements Project.  The final cost to the City for the project completion is $357,958.45.

DISCUSSION
:

As City Council is aware, the award of this project was approved by City Council at its regularly scheduled meeting on April 18, 2017.  A low bid of $359,065.25 was submitted to the City from Morelli Landscaping Inc.

This project included landscaping improvements such as the planting of trees, shrubs, hedges, and groundcover to City Hall, the Library, and the Fire Station complex grounds.  In addition, this project included the removal and transplanting of Drake Elm trees from the Downtown area to the stormwater pond on Main St. and Nebraska Ave. and along the Grand Blvd. railroad right of way.  Subsequent to the Drake Elm tree removals, Chinese Fan palms were installed.  Finally landscaping improvements such as hedges, shrubs, and groundcover were installed in several of the Downtown parking lots and center islands located on Main St.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of the deductive change order and final pay request is recommended.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for this project is identified in the City’s current Capital Improvement Program as Penny for Pasco Tax dollars and Stormwater Utility Fee dollars in the amount of $399,000.
