Sidewalk Cafe's are currently permitted in the Downtown zoning district and are regulated under the Land Development Code. The proposed ordinance extends the sidewalk cafes ordinance to include street cafe's as part of the sidewalk cafe guidelines, operation and regulations.
In addition, as part of the ordinance, the operation regulations and design guidelines are being modified to include language relating to establishments serving alcoholic beverages that will include designated outdoor areas for consumption. The design guidelines include the use of barriers to delineate the serving area and prevent patrons from consuming alcohol on public property.
The Land Development Review Board considered this matter at their meeting on July 19, 2018 and unanimously recommended that the City Council consider this matter favorably.
