RE:	First Reading - Ordinance No. 2018-2144: Dumpster Enclosure Ordinance

REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to conduct a first reading of Ordinance No. 2018-2144 which pertains to the establishment and maintenance of dumpster enclosures.

DISCUSSION:

At your meeting on July 17, 2018 a suggestion was made for an amendment to the ordinance which relates to dumpster enclosures. Specifically, the suggestion was that a requirement for a gate be instituted in order to surround the dumpster on all four sides. Since that time the city attorney has authored the change and a copy of the updated ordinance is attached.

Incidentally, if this ordinance is approved it will not go into effect for a period of 90 days so that appropriate notice can be provided to affected property owners.

RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation is to approve the ordinance as submitted and to conduct a second reading of this matter on August 21, 2018.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
No funding is required for this item.
