| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Robert M Rivera, Public Works Director | | DATE: | 11/7/2018 | | RE: | Consideration of Approval for 18/19 Sewer System Improvements Engineering Task Order No. 34 |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for the City Council to review and consider for approval is Task Order No. 34 from Stroud Engineering Consultants, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $108,500 for engineering services for the 2018/2019 Sewer System Improvements Project.
DISCUSSION:
The project scope of the planned work is separated into two (2) main components. Component one is sanitary sewer force main construction in three locations. Approximately 1,500’ of 10” force main will connect at the existing lift station located at Avery Rd. and Astor Dr. and tie into the existing eight inch force main at Palmetto Rd. The existing eight inch force main will be capped and abandoned. Approximately 1,600’ of six inch force main will connect at the existing lift station located at Louisiana Ave. and Lafayette St. and will tie into the existing six inch force main at Grand Boulevard and Dailey Lane. The existing six inch cast iron force main is severely deteriorated due to stresses and age; this pipe will be abandoned, capped, and replaced. Approximately 2,100’ of 10” and 1,000’ of six inch force main will connect at the Frances Avenue Park lift station, proceed west on Louisiana Avenue and tie into the existing 10" force main stub out located at Grand Boulevard. This proposed work calls out for the existing cast iron pipe to be abandoned, capped, and replaced. The second component of the work involves the rehabilitation of the existing sewer lift station located at Lafayette Street and Louisiana Ave. This lift station contains an old steel wet well that is subject to corrosive atmospheres and is approaching the end of its serviceable life and is in need of system upgrades. The proposed force main improvements and lift station rehabilitation is identified in the City’s current Utility Master Plan as a recommended ongoing utility capital improvement project.
