RE:Presentation by Wannemacher Jensen Architects, Inc. RE: Main St. / Dr. Frederick A. Grassin Bridge Improvements Project - Direct Purchase of Project Elements

REQUEST:

The request from staff for City Council is to review the proposed Main St. Bridge Improvement Project and consider for approval the direct purchase of benches, trash receptacles, and large planters in the amount not to exceed $75,704.32.

 




DISCUSSION
:

As City Council may recall, on March 6, 2018 at its regular meeting, staff and the consultants of Wannemacher Jensen Architects, Inc. presented to City Council the proposed Main St. Bridge Improvements Project.  Improvements included the removal and replacement of the existing concrete benches, the removal and replacement of the existing lighting fixtures, the removal and replacement of a portion of the existing pavers, the installation of planters and plants, the staining of the bridge, and the installation of LED lighting on the underside of the bridge. 

 

In addition to the direct purchases, all construction activities will be performed by Public Works maintenance staff except for the installation of pavers. 

 

Subsequent to the final design for the project and selection of project elements for direct purchase, Sara Lyons, Jason Jensen of Wannemacher Jensen Architects, Inc. are attendance to present the project to City Council. 



RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of the project and direct purchases is recommended.



BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for the project is identified in the City’s current Capital Improvement Program as Penny for Pasco tax dollars.
