RE:Fair Housing Presentation

REQUEST:
This request is for the City Council to permit a presentation on Fair Housing.

DISCUSSION:

As a requirement for participation in the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, cities are required to permit a presentation on fair housing. As you know, fair housing is based on federal laws that protect the fundamental rights of  minorities, the disabled and others from discrimination in both homeownership and rental situations.

 

The presentation will introduce important aspects of the law, including how complaints can be filed, and how they can be resolved.



RECOMMENDATION:

The recommendation is permit the presentation.
