As you already know, there has been some thought expressed in relationship to a possible beat patrol program in the downtown area and Sims Park. In that respect, Chief Bogart has designed a program which is predicated on the of hiring of part-time officers to support the program. In order to staff the program the officers would each work up to 29 hours per week. The program would be in operation seven days per week between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. The cost associated with the staff for the remainder of the current fiscal year is $ 49,000.00.
In addition to the costs to staff the program there are uniform and equipment costs for the officers. The cost to furnish the four officers with uniforms and necessary equipment is $26,000.00. Therefore, the total cost of the program for the remainder of the current fiscal year is $ 75,000.00.
