REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to renew the contract between the City of New Port Richey and Dr. Charles M. Boothby to continue to serve as the City of New Port Richey Fire and Emergency Services Medical Director. This position oversees the Advanced Life Support protocols and patient care provided by the Paramedics with the City of New Port Richey Fire and Emergency Services Department.
DISCUSSION:
The current Advanced Life Support Agreement with Dr. Charles M. Boothby serving as the City of New Port Richey Fire and Emergency Services Department's Medical Director expires on May 31, 2019. Chapter 401, Florida Statutes, mandates that an Advanced Life Support provider shall contract with a licensed physician who shall serve as Medical Director. Dr. Boothby has served as our Medical Director since 1997 when the City of New Port Richey Fire and Emergency Sevices Department became an Advanced Life Support provider. Since that time, Dr. Boothby has served the Department and the City well as our Medical Director. He is also the Medical Director for Pasco County Fire Rescue and our Department operates under the County's medical protocol.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve the contractual agreement between the City of New Port Richey and Dr. Charles M. Boothby to serve as Medical Director for a term of two years starting on June 1, 2019 thru May 31, 2021.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this agenda item in the amount of $2,400 is available in the Fire Supervision budget line item account number 001071-43499. | | | |
