REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to authorize the purchase of four X Series Zoll Defibrillators which would replace our current M Series models we currently use that are reaching the end of their useful life.
DISCUSSION:
Zoll Medical Corporation contacted us in December advising they will no longer be supporting or servicing the M Series Defibrillators we currently use. Zoll has agreed to provide four X Series Defibrillators up front with a written commitment to budget and pay for one defibrillator each year as quoted until the sum is paid in full. To continue to provide the highest level of patient care, it is beneficial to have the same defibrillator on each of our trucks as well as the County Rescues that provide patient transport in the city. The M Series Defibrillators were purchased in 2001 and have reached the end of their useful life. Zoll has agreed to provide all four defibrillators at one time and then bill each one separately over the next three years.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff requests that City Council approve the purchase of four X Series Zoll Defibrillators as submitted.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for this request are currently budgeted in the Fire Department Capital Improvement Projects account number 001073-46431. The total cost for this item is $127,990.92 to be billed by Zoll at a cost of $31,997.73 each year starting in FY18-19 and ending in FY21-22. This amount includes a trade-in value of $2,668.00 each totaling $10,672.00 for the four defibrillators being replaced. | | | |
