RE:Board Appointments: Historic Preservation Board

REQUEST:
This request is for the City Council to reconstitute the Historic Preservation Board and appoint new members.

DISCUSSION
:

The Historic Preservation Board is chartered with the power, authority and jurisdiction to regulate and administer historical, archaeological and architectural resources in the City and to recommend resources for historic designation to the City Council. There was an existing board, but it did not meet and all the appointments made by the Council were allowed to lapse.

All appointment term shall be staggered, as per the Ordinance, up to three years (see attachment). The existing memebers will receive three year appointments, the new members shall receive two year appointments.

The Planning and Development Department contacted all the previous members and the following asked to be reappointed to the Board:

John R. Grey

Joy P. Hetz

Bob Langford

Kelly Smallwood

Additionally, the following residents applied to become new members of the Board.

William C. Maytum

Frank Starkey

The applications of the new members are attached.

Staff has verified that all members meet the requirements set forth in the City's Code to serve on this board

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the City Council approve all appointments to the Historic Preservation Board and accept the attached updated roster.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

No funding is required for this action.
