RE:Request to Purchase Crime Scene Scan Forensic Light System

REQUEST:

I respectfully request Council authorize the purchase of a Crime Scene Scan Forensic Light System at a cost of $2,000.99.



DISCUSSION:

The police department routinely processes complex crime scenes to obtain physical evidence. This requires specialized equipment including an alternate light source (ALS). An ALS produces light through an array of filters that aid the Crime Scene Technicians in locating and identifying many forms of physical evidence to include: bodily fluids and other materials. The Department’s current ALS is no longer serviceable and requires replacement.

Our Crime Scene Technicians recommend the purchase of a rechargeable CS Scan Forensic Light System from Foxfury Lighting Solutions -- 3528 Seagate Way Ste. 100, Oceanside, CA. 92056 at a total cost of $2,000.99.




RECOMMENDATION:

I recommend the purchase of the CS Scan Forensic Light System from Foxfury Lighting Solutions at a total cost of $2,000.99 utilizing “Unclaimed Evidence Monies”.




BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

There will be no direct impact to the police department’s budget as I am requesting authorization to use funds from the Department’s Unclaimed Evidence monies.
