REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to authorize a letter of intent to purchase a 2020 75' aerial ladder truck from E-ONE which would replace our existing 1994 75' aerial ladder truck that has surpassed its useful life. The letter of intent is needed by E-ONE by May 31, 2019 to avoid a price increase of 2.5%.
DISCUSSION:
The funding source for this purchase is a loan through the USDA, along with an additional grant opportunity to offset some of the loan. The application has been completed by City staff and turned into the USDA for approval. Finance has been advised by the USDA that the application will not make it through processing and underwriting by May 31, 2019. Therefore, I am requesting a letter of intent to purchase the 2020 75' aerial ladder truck in the event the USDA loan does not get approved. City staff has had many conversations with USDA and they are very confident that the loan will be approved once it goes through the entire process and underwriting. They have not given staff any reason to think that the loan would not be approved.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff requests that City Council approve the letter of intent to purchase a 2020 75' aerial ladder truck from E-ONE.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
The purchase of the ladder truck is currently budgeted in the 18-19 Capital Improvement Program account number 001073-46415. The total cost for the ladder truck is $849,917.29. | | | |
