REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to re-appoint Brent Simon, Esq. as the Special Magistrate for the City.
DISCUSSION:
On February 17, 2015 City Council appointed Brent Simon, Esq. as Special Magistrate for the City for an initial term of one year. The agreement was renewed in October 2016 for an additional year and expired as of October 18, 2017. Since that time, Mr. Simon has continued to serve the City as Special Magistrate. I believe that Mr. Simon will continue to serve the City and its residents well as Special Magistrate should Council approve his re-appointment. The agreement attached for your approval has been amended to include an automatic renewal term of one year unless terminated by the parties. All other provisions outlined in the original agreement have not be changed and remain in full force and effect.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation is for City Council to approve the re-appointment of Brent Simon, Esq. as Special Magistrate and to authorize the City Manager to enter into a new agreement with Mr. Simon for Special Magistrate services.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this item is available in the Police Department's Division 67 Special Traffic Enforcement budget account. | | | |
