REQUEST:

The request is for the Board of Directors to consider a proposal from EZ Event Ride to provide transportation service in the city for a 90-day period of time for an amount not to exceed $13,500.




DISCUSSION:

As you are aware, EZ Event Ride provided some transportation service from ancillary parking lots during this year’s Chasco Fiesta and from all reports the service was well received.  Since that time representatives from EZ Event Ride have indicated an interest in establishing a more permanent service in the city.  In that regard, they have provided the attached proposal which in short commits to a trial service period of ninety days at a total cost of $13,500.

The attached proposal contemplates operating one 15-passenger vehicle for eight hours per day for five days during the first week of operation and then add a second 15-passenger vehicle during the second week of operation. The operators indicate their plan is to expand operations to seven days a week once customer demand is succinctly identified. The drivers of the vehicles would work for tips that the users of the service may offer.

Although the proposal covers a restricted amount of time it should be noted that the operators are interested in offering a more permanent service and hope to gather support for their associated fee by contracting with local businesses for advertising purposes.





RECOMMENDATION:

The recommendation is for the Board of Directors to discuss and consider this matter in order to determine whether or not the service should be offered. 





BUDGET / FISCAL IMPACT:

The funding to support this expenditure would be provided through use of FY 2018-2019 CRA funds.
