REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to consider approving the recommended amounts of in-kind support in regard to annual special events hosted by local not for profit organizations.
DISCUSSION:
As you are aware, several organizations have submitted requests for consideration in respect to in-kind support of special events. As is typically the case, the amount requested exceeds the amount of funding available.
In that regard, the tradition of the city has been to provide the most support to the events that: provide a family-friendly program, promote the city as a destination to visitors and result in economic benefit to local businesses. Other factors taken into consideration are as follows: fiscal responsibility to include operational considerations as well as the manner in which surplus revenue is used, the amount of direct benefit to local residents, private sector investment and media impact.
In that respect, attached please find copies of the applications for in-kind support that have been received for the coming fiscal year. Please note that the attachments listed on page three of the application have all been received from each event organizer. Due to the volume of them, they are not included with this agenda item but are available to you at your request for your review.
RECOMMENDATION:
The recommendation is to approve the recommended in-kind support of the annual special events in accordance with the chart as provided below:
