REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to adopt Resolution No. 2019-22 declaring a local state of emergency in advance of Hurricane Dorian.
DISCUSSION:
On August 28, 2019 Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order No. 19-189 declaring a state of emergency due to Hurricane Dorian. As the path of the hurricane is expected to cross our area, it poses a severe threat to the life, health, property and welfare of our residents. Therefore City Council is hereby requested to declare a local state of emergency pursuant to its home rule authority.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council adopt Resolution No. 2019-22 declaring a local state of emergency effective as of 12:01 a.m. Sunday, September 1, 2019 for a period up to seven (7) days.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
