REQUEST:
The action requested of Council is to approve the attached proposal from Mackinnon/JCB Incorporated in the amount not to exceed $59,128.80 for the purchase of one 55Z-1 Midi Excavator. Mackinnon/JCB is the authorized dealer for JCB products. Pricing, terms, and conditions are included in the Sourcewell Discount Contract 040319-JCB formally known as the National Joint Purchasing Alliance (NJPA).
DISCUSSION:
This equipment will mainly be utilized by the Sewer Collections Division to perform several different types of maintenance tasks where conditions do not allow existing larger pieces of equipment to be operated. This includes dig ups for gravity line repairs in easements located between and at the rear of building structures. In addition, this piece of equipment will be available to all other divisions in the Public Work Department. Maintenance activities such as stormwater culvert repairs, water and reclaimed distribution pipe repairs, and irrigation line repairs.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the purchase is recommended.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for this purchase are available in the 2019/2020 Sewer Collection’s Division Capital Equipment Outlay budget account 401113.46416 in the amount of $60,000. | | | |
