REQUEST:
The request is for City Council to approve the purchase of twenty-four (24) MSA self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA's) with accessories from Ten-8 Fire Equipment, INC. totaling $177,001.40.
DISCUSSION:
The New Port Richey Fire Department was awarded the FY 2018 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) funding opportunity in the amount of $171,000.00 in Federal funding to be used for the purchase of twenty-four (24) new SCBA's with accessories. As a condition of the grant, the City is required to contribute non-Federal funds equal to or greater than five (5) percent of the Federal funds awarded. The new SCBA's will be replacing current models which are reaching the end of their useful life. The purchase is a piggyback using the Lake County contract.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff requests that City Council approve the purchase of twenty-four (24) MSA self contained breathing apparatus with accessories.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds for this purchase are currently budgeted in the Fire Department Capital Improvement Projects account number 001073-46431. The total cost for the purchase is $177,001.40 of which 95% or $168,151.33 will be reimbursed to the City through the AFG Grant. The City will be responsible for 5% or $8,850.07 of the purchase. | | | |
