Jenny Pearl made a presentation to the Cultural Affairs Committee during their November 20, 2019 meeting for a public art project. The project is a mural to be painted on the east facing exterior wall on Fitzgerald's Irish Tavern. The artist, Jenny Pearl, is not requesting funding from the Public Art Fund, just approval for the project. If approved, the project will be funded by selling sponsorships in the amounts of $100, $200 and $300 dollars. The sponsorship funds will be collected by the New Port Richey Main Street Organization from individuals that would like to have their likeness painted on the mural. The Main Street Organization will then pay the artist for the project out of the funds collected. The City will have no financial obligation for this project.
A copy of the proposed mural is attached and once competed, it will not cover any existing signage on this exterior wall for the Beauty Salon or the Laundromat. A photo of the wall in its current state is also attached.
The artist has prior experience in painting exterior wall murals and plans to use exterior latex paint and then apply a top coat of a low luster exterior water based sealant once the mural is completed.
