REQUEST: The request is for City Council to approve Resolution No. 2020-04 supporting SB182 regarding the regulation of auxiliary containers, wrappings or plastic bags or use or sale of polystyrene.
DISCUSSION: On November 22, 2019, City Council received an email from Thomas G. Bradford, former manager of Tequesta and Palm Beach, asking municipalities to draft a resolution in support of proposed SB182 which would regulate auxiliary containers, wrappings or plastic bags or use or sale of polystyrene. The resolution was drafted and reviewed by our City Attorney and is attached to this agenda item for Council's review and approval. This agenda item is being advanced at the request of Councilman Murphy.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve Resolution No. 2020-04 supporting SB182 and direct the City Clerk to forward a copy of the signed resolution to Governor DeSantis, members of the Pasco County legislative delegation, the Florida League of Cities and to Mr. Thomas Bradford as requested in his letter dated November 22, 2019.
