REQUEST: Acceptance of the quotes and approval to demolish the former Walgreens Building (5242 Main Street) and the former Media General Building (6218 US Hwy 19).
DISCUSSION: These quotes were provided through an Agreement to Piggyback a Contract for Services Bid by Another Governmental Entity. Cross Construction Services, Inc., entered into an agreement dated April 8, 2019, with the State of Florida Department of Transportation for demolition and removal services/asbestos survey/abatement services procured pursuant to FS287.057. On December 26, 2019, the City of New Port Richey entered into an Agreement to Piggyback onto the above referenced contract between Cross Construction Services and the Florida Department of Transportation for utilization for the same or similar services for Demolition of Slum and blighted/condemnation services in which Cross Construction Services consented to the aforesaid "piggybacking."
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends acceptance of the quotes and approval to demolish the former Walgreens Building (5242 Main Street) and the former Media General Building (6218 US Hwy 19).
BUDGET / FISCAL IMPACT:
The CRA is overseeing the process and paying for the cost of demolition as a part of the overall incentive package for the deal to attract this Economic Development project to this site.
