RE:2020 Orangewood Lakes Water System Improvements-Engineering Task Order No. 43

REQUEST:

Attached for review and consideration by City Council is the attached Engineering Task Order No. 43 from Stroud Engineering Consultants, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $42,500.  This amount includes design, permitting, bid, and construction phase services.

DISCUSSION
:

As City Council may recall, the City acquired the Orangewood Lakes (OWL) water system in FY 2018/2019.  At its current condition, the OWL system does not have adequate fire protection.  Once completed, this project will place fire hydrants at or near neighborhood entryway locations.  The project will also increase the volume of water available to satisfy the user demands of the existing and future neighborhoods and commercial structures.  The project’s scope of work is included in the City's current Capital Improvement Program (CIP), in the summary of water, sewer, & reclaimed utility projects section.  The proposed water system improvements for this project include:

  1. 3,100 linear feet of 12-inch diameter water main pipe.

  2. Approximately 200 linear feet of 4-inch diameter water main pipe.

  3. Approximately 20’ linear feet of 2-inch diameter water main pipe.

  4. Six (6) Hydrant assemblies.

  5. Numerous valves, valve boxes, fittings, and services connections.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approval of the attached engineering task order is recommended.

BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for task order No. 43 is identified in the City’s current CIP as Water and Sewer Construction Fund Dollars account number 405533-46381.
