REQUEST:
The request is for the City Council to conduct a second and final reading of Ordinance No. 2020-2185 amending Chapter 7 - Zoning of the Land Development Code to allow a university or college as a permitted use in the Downtown and Highway Commercial zoning districts.


DISCUSSION
:
As you will recall, staff presented this ordinance to City Council for first reading at your March 3, 2020 regular meeting. The purpose of this agenda item is to amend Chapter 7 - Zoning of the Land Development Code to allow a university or college as a permitted use in the Downtown and Highway Commercial zoning districts.  These amendments are needed in order to allow Keiser University to locate at the southeast corner of US Highway 19 and Main Street. 

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that City Council conduct a second and final reading of Ordinance No. 2020-2185 amending Chapter 7 - Zoning of the Land Development Code as submitted.
