| TO: | City of New Port Richey City Council | | FROM: | Robert M. Rivera | | DATE: | 4/7/2020 | | RE: | Sewer Collections Pump Replacement - Consideration for Purchase |
REQUEST:
The request of staff for City Council is to review and consider for approval the attached sole source proposal from Xylem Water Solutions USA, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $31,110.28.
DISCUSSION:
As City Council is aware, the City’s Sewer Collections division operates and maintains 68 lift stations as part of the City’s utility system. On March 4, 2020 Sewer Collections maintenance staff were called out to the Raintree Drive lift station (1-F) located in the Magnolia Valley sub-division. Subsequent to diagnostic testing, it was determined that the pump had impeller damage, shaft/rotor damage, had volute damage, was in need of 66 feet of new power cord, a new terminal board, and new set wear rings. Additional testing was performed by an outside vendor confirming the damages/issues mentioned above. A repair estimate for the pump was submitted to the City in the amount of $38,641.43. It was at that time, staff requested a proposal to replace the pump with a new six inch (6”) Flygt submersible pump in accordance with the current utility standards.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the sole source proposal is recommended and allowed under the City's Finance purchasing guidelines.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the equipment is available in the Sewer Collections division capital equipment line item account # 401113-46399. | | | |
